Born in Obihiro City, Hokkaido in 1973. Representative works: "Umizaru", "Say Hello to Black Jack" series, "The Isle of Tokkō ". In 2009, he launched "Manga on Web," the first e-book sales site by a manga artist, and actively tackled the issue of secondary use of works and copyrights in the age of the Internet by making his work "Give my regards to Black Jack" free for secondary use. Since 2014, he has been developing "Densho Bato", an e-book intermediary service for authors.
